Catalina State Park includes about 5,500 acres of foothills, canyons and streams.

In addition to hiking, popular activities include camping, picnicking and bird watching. The area boasts that more than 150 species of birds can be found in the park.

Catalina State Park is adjacent to the Coronado National Forest. One of the many hiking trails also includes an interpretive trail to a prehistoric Hohokam village.

Facilities and Amenities

The Visitor Center is located at the park entrance and is open approximately 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. daily. Entrance and camping permits are issued here.

Park amenities include a campground, picnic tables, grills, hiking trails, an equestrian center. Groups can use specified areas for family gatherings or events.

Overnight camping is available by reservation and open all year. The park has over 100 sites and most have electric and water hookups, but not all. So be sure and indicate the type of site you want. Each campsite has a picnic table and BBQ grill.

Roads and parking areas are paved. Campgrounds have modern flush restrooms and hot showers. RV dump stations are available in the park. All restroom and shower facilities are accessible.

There aren’t any limits on RV length. Maximum overnight stays are limited to 14 nights.

For individuals with horses, Catalina State Park has an equestrian center. There is a large staging area for trail riders with ample trailer parking.

If you don’t have a horse? Pusch Ridge Stables is an equestrian center near the park that offers horse rides on designated trails on the north end of the park.

What To Bring

The only thing you need to bring to enjoy your stay is water, sun protection and your sense of adventure. Beautiful mountain views, desert wildflowers, cacti and wildlife make a day at the Catalina State Park memorable experience.
